Precision Machine was founded by Buel Alexander and Randy Warmath over 30 years ago. In 1987 PMI began branching out from the Marine industry and began off-site field service at WestVaco (Phoenix Paper) in Wickliffe, KY. They continued to grow their customer base and made their first appearance at Nucor Yamato Steel in 1992.
In 2017, Xtek Inc., a Cincinnati-based company specializing in custom mechanical components for heavy industry, acquired Precision Machine Inc. and Precision Maintenance Inc., both located in Paducah. Xtek Inc., founded in 1909, is a 100 percent employee-owned company specializing in the design, heat treatment, fabrication, and repair of custom mechanical components for heavy industry.
Today, Precision Machine is a leader in machining, fabrication, repair, field maintenance and alignment services for the steel, paper, chemical and many other industries. PMI employs over 80 people, including highly skilled mechanics, welders and machinists.
